The Problem-Puppy Mills
Crowded, squalid conditions, abuse, no veterinary care or socialization, poor food, no clean water, lack of adequate exercise space and more, this is the plight of dogs and cats in “Puppy Mills or “Kitten Mills” (Yes, there are kitten mills too!)
What we do
Educate, rescue, rehabilitate, public and guest speaking, host events, support, and sponsor other “Puppy Mill Awareness Day” events held by other animal welfare and shelter organizations. Raise awareness and educate others about the horrific conditions “Mans Best Friend” is subjected to in Puppy Mills.
Commercial dog breeding facilities
Abusive conditions and practices exist in commercial dog breeding facilities, or “puppy mills,” throughout the United States. As rescuers and animal advocates, we realized this topic was mostly untouched and needed to be addressed on a larger scale. Our mission to rescue and rehabilitate also focuses on educating people wherever and whenever we can.
Rehabilitate
Puppy Mill Awareness Day (PMAD) also rescue and rehabilitate breeding dogs surrendered into our care. We provide much-needed veterinary care, as well as socialization.
Triage
Our organization has excellent working relationships with several veterinarians, who take an active role in the medical triage, care and recovery of many puppy mill survivors. These dogs are nursed back to health, spayed or neutered, and made available for adoption.
Public and guest speaking
Our volunteers are available to speak at different events to help raise awareness about Puppy Mills and the plight these dog and cats face. (Yes, there are kitten mills too!) If you would like to invite a speaker or just find out more information or how you might help our cause, contact kat@awarenessday-org.stackstaging.com

What is it like inside a Puppy Mill?
Puppy Mill Awareness Day recently received a letter from Jason, a student from Long Island NY asked if we could speak to his class about animal abuse in puppy mills, puppy farms, pet stores etc.
Jason was doing research for a project on the subject and we would have loved to be there to talk with his class in person.
Unfortunately because of commitments and obligations to our dogs and the long distance we were unable to be there in person so we recorded this message.
Thank You, Jason, for contacting us with your questions.
